School Year Abroad Presentation

Ninth and tenth grade students (during Spirit Week!) had the opportunity to learn more about School Year Abroad (SYA).
Students learned about the positive impact that SYA can have on high school juniors and seniors, as it gives students the opportunity to live in another country (France or Spain) with host families, and how this program forces students to immerse themselves in an entirely different culture and language, and continue with their high-level academic courses.

Following the presentation, Greta Munch ’25 (Zaragoza, Spain) and Lily Zawadzkas '25 (Rennes, France) both discussed how their experiences as a SYA students helped shape their global mindedness and understandings of different cultures from around the world. Both students reflected on their tremendous experiences last year, Greta noted that she is still close with her host family and spoke to them after class on Monday!

Currently, WFS is supporting two students in the SYA program for the 2024-2025 school year; Rose Mulveny '26 (Spain) and Abbi Thurlow '26 (France).
