Tracey Quillen Carney ’80 Publishes "Books for Blue"

“Most of all, we want our Reading Tour to be about kids, about our responsibility to them, including our responsibility to nurture their promise, to see each of them for who they are, and to listen and talk with, not just to and about them.”
First Spouse Tracey Quillen Carney ’80 and Governor Carney–in partnership with Dr. Annie Norman, State Librarian of Delaware, and Casey Family Programs, literacy, and early education advocates– launched their Reading Tour yesterday at the Wilmington Public Library. The tour highlights the importance of literacy and encourages children and families to take advantage of the services and programs at local libraries throughout the First State.

As part of the First State’s Reading Tour, Tracey released her original children’s book, “Books for Blue,” illustrated by Director of Communications for Governor Carney, Emily David Hershman ’09.

The book, featuring a baby Blue Hen named Blue, encourages children to visit their local library and step outside their comfort zones to discover their passions through reading. Throughout the text, Blue learns that the library is a great place to “keep looking to learn what you’re looking for.”
