Wilmington Friends School is a Preschool to 12 Quaker, college preparatory, day school located in Wilmington, Delaware and enrolling approximately 740 students.
Wilmington Friends School offers a college preparatory curriculum—including athletics, the arts and community service—in which Quaker values and high expectations are mutually supportive. A highly qualified candidate is one who:
Has strong coursework (graduate level preferred) in Physics and other laboratory sciences
Has experience teaching in an independent school
Is familiar with current research, trends, best practices and pedagogy
Understands and loves working with high school aged students
Is committed to and interested in working in a diverse, multi-cultural environment
Is comfortable working with technology
Has the collaborative skills to work with a department (grades preK-12) of dedicated talented colleagues, and the leadership skills to potentially lead the department
Is willing and eager to to take on the significant co-curricular responsibilities outside of the classroom as assigned by the Upper School Division Head
Specifically, the highly qualified candidate will be able to teach all levels of Physics, as well as possibly another science and/or a section of math in grades 9-12.
We are an International Baccalaureate school, and as such, the candidate will be required to go through rigorous I.B. training.
