The Wilmington Friends School Alumni Association recognizes alumni annually for their outstanding achievements and service to the school and community. These individuals exemplify the best qualities of a Friends School graduate, including honesty, integrity, fairness, a commitment to serve others, and a commitment to equality and social justice. The award ceremony will be held on the Friday evening of each Reunion/Homecoming weekend in October.
1. Distinguished Alumna/us Award
Recognizes an alumna/us who has achieved personal success, made an outstanding contribution to his/her chosen field of endeavor, and brought honor to themselves and to Friends through their distinguished achievements.
Criteria:

has achieved a standard of excellence in professional or personal endeavors

demonstrates substantial professional growth and advancement over an extended period of time

makes significant contributions to his/her community

is or has been involved with the school, through volunteer work, contributions, or in other ways
2. Young Alumna/us of the Year
Recognizes an alumna/us of the past 20 years (Classes 1999-2019) who has made significant contributions to their profession or volunteer services by exemplifying the qualities of a WFS graduate.
Criteria:

has shown great promise and accomplishment at a young age in their chosen profession, and/or community, public or school service

demonstrates leadership capability

graduated from WFS no more than 20 years prior to the year of the award

is or has been involved with the school, through volunteer work, contributions, or in other ways
3. Outstanding Service Award
Recognizes an alumna/us who has demonstrated a personal commitment to the advancement of the school’s mission through outstanding volunteer service or contributions to the school, and/or outstanding and significant contributions to the community on a volunteer basis or through professional involvement.
