Upper School Chemistry Students Design Holiday Ornaments

Upper school students got in the holiday spirit this week, using chemistry concepts to make ornaments! 
Tenth grade students made copper-plated ornaments using galvanized metal with a cut-out design that was then dipped in hydrochloric acid and then a copper solution, while advanced chemistry students transformed plain glass ornaments into shimmering decorations by depositing silver inside the glass through a reduction reaction.
